<p><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Georgia",serif;color:black">The University of Kansas McNair Scholars Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, is designed to prepare
<strong><span style="font-family:"Georgia",serif">undergraduate students </span></strong>for graduate study and eventual careers in university teaching and research.
<strong><span style="font-family:"Georgia",serif">Applications are currently being accepted for the 2019-2020 academic year</span></strong>. In order to qualify for participation in the McNair Scholars Program, students must be
<strong><span style="font-family:"Georgia",serif">sophomores, juniors or seniors (graduating December 2020 or later)
</span></strong>who are <em><span style="font-family:"Georgia",serif">either</span></em>:
<strong><span style="font-family:"Georgia",serif">low- income, first-generation college students
</span></strong><em><span style="font-family:"Georgia",serif">or </span></em><strong><span style="font-family:"Georgia",serif">from groups currently underrepresented in graduate education
</span></strong>(African American, Native American, and Hispanic). In addition, applicants must have at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA and plan to attend graduate school.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
