<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">We appreciate the thoughtful feedback we received at the August 17th GTA forum and since that time. Clearly there are several things we can do to be responsive to the requests made. Thus, the Office of the Provost
and the Office of Diversity and Equity, in partnership with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the KU Public Safety Office, and the Office of Graduate Studies have put together a series of additional programming regarding the concealed-carry policy
to make certain that we are doing more to support and prepare GTAs in your role as instructors in the classroom.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">This will include a focus on the basic details of the state law and the policies at KU, strategies to handle difficult conversations and situations in your classroom and to de-escalate situations as you encounter
them, ways you can address your own anxieties and concerns as they relate to challenges in the classroom, the amplified concerns felt with the advent of concealed carry, and what to do in the unlikely event of an active shooter.
