I am sorry for the late notice, but I need to ask for your assistance with distributing information about the Tinker Field Research Grant Workshop which may be of great interest to graduate students seeking field research funding.   https://clacs.ku.edu/apply-TFRG  The online workshop will be given by Dr. Brent Metz and Dr. Marta Caminero-Santangelo on January 29.  The Tinker grant has a high acceptance rate due to the fact that multiple grants are given each year through the Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies, and the competition is only with other KU graduate students.  Many grant recipients use the Tinker for their first experience with field research in another country.  Each one of the departments receiving this email has previously had one or more affiliated graduate students who received a Tinker grant for their research within the last four years.



If you have a weekly newsletter that is being distributed by January 29, would you be able to include the attached flyer about the Tinker Field Research Grant Workshop?  The workshop is on January 29 and the application deadline for the grant is February 10.



If you cannot distribute the flyer by January 29, but you will be distributing some type of newsletter or weekly update before Feb. 10, could you please include the following message without the attached flyer?



FUNDING FOR GRADUATE RESEARCH

The Tinker Field Research Grant provides support to graduate students at KU to conduct pre-dissertation or master’s thesis field research in a Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking Latin American country or countries.  The maximum award is $3500. The deadline is February 10, 2025. More information can be found at:  https://clacs.ku.edu/apply-TFRG
