Building Temperature Reminder

As part of our commitment to sustainability, energy conservation measures will be in effect for unoccupied buildings during the academic break. Temperatures will be allowed to drop below 69 degrees from Dec. 17 to Jan. 16 in buildings with limited to no occupancy at all times, and after 5 p.m. and on weekends in buildings that remain open during the academic break.

Water and Steam Outage Planning

Sometime during the week of March 13 – 17 (Spring Break) there will be a water and steam outage on the KU Lawrence Campus. The outage is expected to last approximately 24 hours. If you have potential events or research projects that may be affected by this water and steam outage, we encourage you to consider any potential impact the outage might have.

Facilities Services is upgrading the main campus water boosting system due to age and reliability. There is no ideal time for this outage and it must occur during periods of light occupancy on campus and mild weather. Because the outage is weather-dependent, we cannot set an exact date at this time. We will provide an update before the week of March 13 to notify all impacted buildings when the water and steam outage will occur.

Some buildings will only lose steam during the 24-hour maintenance period, while other buildings will lose both steam and water. The lists below detail the impact for specific buildings. The water outage means no water to restrooms, drinking fountains, bottle fillers, etc. The Office of Public Safety and Lawrence Fire Department are aware that the water outage will also affect fire sprinklers and hydrants. The loss of steam means building temperatures may fluctuate because cooling and heating will not be available.
