Subject: JS Summer Study Abroad Opportunities

Dear Linda,

I'm wondering if you could possibly pass on the info below to interested faculty and students? I’m trying to spread the word about these JS summer study abroad programs, and I think they may be of interest to those in Political Science. Thank you very much!

History Politics and Society in Israel: June 9-June 20/27, 2019.
Join Assistant Professor Rami Zeedan<http://jewishstudies.ku.edu/rami-zeedan> on a 2-3 week tour of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Kinneret and focus on Israel's history, politics, and society. Through intense academic exploration, co-curricular activities, and excursions, participants will investigate modern Israel from a comparative perspective. This program will present Israel's multicultural present while providing a global perspective on the Middle-East, as well as Jewish life, and Jewish-Arab relations.

Students can choose to enroll in only the first course, or in both courses:
1) Modern Israel: History, Politics, and Society in Contexts<https://jewishstudies.ku.edu/summer-2019-history-politics-society-israel> (3ch) June 9 - June 20
2) Applied Research Methods in Israel Studies<https://jewishstudies.ku.edu/summer-2019-history-politics-society-israel> (3ch) June 9 - June 27

Graz International Summer Institute: June 30-July 13, 2019.
Join Associate Professor Emerita Cheryl Lester<http://studyabroad.ku.edu/graz-international-summer-institute> and Professor Emeritus Philip Barnard<http://studyabroad.ku.edu/graz-international-summer-institute> for a two-week program at the Graz International Summer Institute in Austria. Students live and study in historic Seggau Castle with participants from more than 30 countries. The 2019 institute theme, "Radical (Dis)Engagement: State-Society-Religion" offers students a deep dive into current global affairs and the opportunity to develop personal, academic, and professional skills. The course includes morning lectures and afternoon seminars, and one of the afternoon seminars will focus on the theme of Jewish Culture and Modernity<https://international.uni-graz.at/en/stud/int-focus/summerschools/gusegg-summerschool/program/seminar-05-jewish-culture-and-modernity/>.
