Dear Colleagues,

We'd greatly appreciate if you'd send details to students, faculty, staff or community members who might be interested in the topic. Below you will find text and a link to the Facebook Event. Attached is a flyer which can be printed or posted on social media. Thank you for helping to advertise the event. We hope to see you on October 23rd!

Global Headline Series: European Elections in the Age of Populism
Monday, October 23, 4:00-5:30 pm | Alderson Auditorium, Kansas Union
Panelists will discuss how populism impacted elections held in 2017 in the Netherlands, France, and Germany, with particular focus on Germany's election results in September. A key issue will be the far-right populist sentiment that motivated so many voters in Germany and other European countries.
Panelists:

* Rüdiger Schmitt-Beck, Professor of Political Science, Political Sociology, University of Mannheim. A leading scholar of German electoral behavior, Schmitt-Beck is Principal Investigator of the German Longitudinal Election Study.

* Robert Rohrschneider, Sir Robert Worcester Distinguished Professor of Political Science

* Felix Meschke, Associate Professor, School of Business - Finance
Moderator: Mike Wuthrich, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Academic Director, Global & International Studies.

The Center for Global & International Studies Global Headline Series brings together faculty and outside experts to address and analyze topics of global import as they occur in real time. An open discussion will follow the panel presentations. Sponsored by European Studies Program, Center for Global & International Studies, Max Kade Center, Political Science, Sir Robert Worcester Fund, and KU Representation Initiative.
