Dear faculty and students:
To get everybody in the mood for the April 8 workshop on preparing a
dissertation or thesis with LaTeX (Web info:
https://crmda.ku.edu/latex-20170408), this morning I decided to schedule
a brief LyX demonstration/workshop on Friday, March 31, 2017, 3PM Watson
455.
Yes, that will happen March 31, 2017, not April 31 as I previously put
in the subject of the previous email message. Just 2 days from now!
Please spread the word.
I encourage people who might like to see how this works to come watch.
For others that have LaTeX and LyX installed, bring your computer and
play along. While I don't intend to have this tightly scripted, for the
sake of discussion lets say the agenda will be my essay "Making My LyX
Template". In the web folder for that project,
http://pj.freefaculty.org/guides/Computing-HOWTO/LatexAndLyx/LyX-article-template,
you should find
1. The template LyX file I created,
http://pj.freefaculty.org/guides/Computing-HOWTO/LatexAndLyx/LyX-article-template/template-20150827.lyx
2. The same document exported as LaTeX (which can also be compiled into PDF)
3. The essay about changes I made from the default to the finished
template,
http://pj.freefaculty.org/guides/Computing-HOWTO/LatexAndLyx/LyX-article-template/making-template-20150827.pdf
and, of course, the LyX file from which that PDF document emanated.
http://pj.freefaculty.org/guides/Computing-HOWTO/LatexAndLyx/LyX-article-template/making-template-20150827.lyx
I'm sorry I had an incorrect date in subject in previous post. There's
a consensus here that I should not be allowed to use a calendar without
supervision. You might regard this as an April Fool's joke, actually.
There is no April 31.
