Subject: [Electronic-LAN] LAN Neighborhood Associations Survey

The current LAN board wants to update information from those receiving the electronic list serve emails.
Likewise, the following link is to the LAN home page, with quick links to Neighborhood Association Contacts.

Are the correct contacts listed?

Yes, Centennial NA contacts are correct. (FYI: Matt Kirkland has done nothing but please keep him on the contact list.)

If not, there is an online form to update.

We also want to get a better understanding of registered Neighborhood Associations:
If you are currently paying the LAN yearly dues of $25:
Do you have a representative who attends the monthly LAN meeting, which is the 3rd Wednesday of each month?

If you are paying, but not attending LAN meetings, why?

Centennial paid LAN dues for this year (and will continue to do so annually). Myself and other former leaders have done their time. We still can’t find a volunteer representative to attend LAN meetings. Thought I may have found someone but she never got back in touch with me. It’s really challenging trying to find younger folks willing to step up. Will keep trying…

We are currently holding hybrid meetings.
-Is it the meeting day and time?

No, LAN meeting days/times are fine and Zoom really helps. (I read monthly agendas & minutes but I’m too over booked to participate.)

-You can designate your representative as two people to share, if that works best.

By not having a representative at meetings, LAN is often unable to vote on items because there not a quorum in attendance.
Your attendance and input is imperative for our success.

Understood. Centennial can’t help unless we can find a new LAN representative.

If your registered Neighborhood Association is not a member of LAN:
Would you consider attending a LAN meeting to see the benefits of your involvement?
Would you prefer having a board member contact you to discuss?

LAN is also prepared to help neighborhoods wishing to become better organized, by offering mentors and help with city resources.

FYI: I sometimes assist folks (by email) wanting to start new NAs. Happy to offer my advice based on experiences….

Our hope is to move LAN forward with the participation needed to address city policies, services, and programs that effect Lawrence neighborhoods.

FYI: I’m currently working on NA issues in regard to historical properties and housing. I also try to attend Zoom meetings regarding KU’s proposed gateway project (KU Stadium, convention center, etc.) because all NAs bounded by KU are affected.

Thank you for your involvement and help.
