[Electronic-LAN] KU's football expansion at 11th and Mississippi

As some of you may be aware, KU has announced another gateway project and football expansion at 11th and Mississippi streets. This expansion may include a multi-purpose year round conference center, retail space, medical offices, and perhaps a hotel at a later date. A developer has purchased neighborhood property at 1030 Maine, directly north of the stadium. Chancellor Girod has stated Mississippi Street between Ninth and Fambrough will be a "high volume street." 

Neighborhood organizations from Old West Lawrence, OREAD, West Hills, and University Heights have formed a multi-neighborhood exploratory group to gather information both from KU and the City regarding the development at 11th and Mississippi. While these four neighborhoods are in close proximity to the area targeted, KU’s plans are a citywide concern.
