Dear LAN listserve members,

Lots is happening at the Multimodal Transportation Commission

neighborhoods. Please see below: Nick Kuzmyak
<mailto:nick.kuzmyak at gmail.com> shared relevant minutes of last Monday's
meeting.  The maps and dashboards are very innovative.

Good evening Travis and Gary,
Here's the relevant minutes from tonight's MMTC meeting (5/3). They're a
bit more detailed than last time because lots of this directly impacts
neighborhoods. Feel free to distribute to LAN members, and if anyone has
any questions they can contact me for details.

*Study Session*
There is apublicly available GIS map
<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flawrenceks.maps.arcgis.com%2Fhome%2Fwebmap%2Fviewer.html%3Fwebmap%3D21fca0eec24b4968ba4de2f9289ab4bd&data=04%7C01%7Celectronic-lan%40lists.ku.edu%7C00484b44b86e444cf7c208d90ff36646%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C637558360326557346%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=cBz46U%2BPirEe9TLLYBT%2F%2BJ%2F4Z1MUv6psA4p5BhFnjfE%3D&reserved=0>on
which you can view all sorts of transportation data: CIP projects,
crashes, bus routes, etc. This will ideally help MMTC Commissioners
better evaluate projects and forecast where and when future construction
will take place. For help on using the maps, MSO is probably the best
source.

There are also dashboards to monitor bike

*Regular Agenda*

  * The 2022-2026 bike and pedestrian project CIP has been approved,
with an understanding that we'd be revisiting later-year projects in
    the near future.
  * Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan
      o Approved budget
o Neighborhoods are encouraged to apply to participate in the
pilot of this program. *Deadline is 6/1.*
o /Interesting note: /instead of our previous understanding that
pilots would be prioritized based on city-collected data,
selection is now based on neighborhood engagement. I.e., whoever
has the most support and compelling case gets to pilot the program.
o *Only one neighborhood will be selected for 2021.*
o Currently, you need to require signatures, but I pushed staff to
make an online version available due to COVID issues.
o Would it be appropriate for LAN to internally work out which
neighborhood makes the most sense, then allot resources to
helping that neighborhood fill out the application? The other
option is all neighborhoods competing against each other.
o If you'd like, we can arrange for MSO to speak at the 5/19 LAN
        meeting.

*Other Items*

  * Countywide Bikeway Plan is out for public comment.
  * Environmental impact statement for K10/SLT is also out for public
    comment.
  * Transit route study is still ongoing, and will solicit public
    comment as well
