[Electronic-lan] LAN meeting March 18th

Dear Neighbors,

I write you regarding the evolving public health concerns
regarding COVID-19. It seems the near unanimous advice being communicated
to the public by medical professionals is to stay at home when you can and
practice social distancing if you can’t. Our LAN meeting is violative of
both of those recommendations.

LAN serves an important role in our community in support of our
neighborhoods, but I think we need to cancel our coming meeting March 18th
and explore other methods of doing LAN business without being together in a
room for the present time.

I've spoken with our LAN executive board regarding the idea that we could
take votes by email if/when critical or time sensitive issues arise that
LAN wants to take action on. The LAN Constitution doesn't really speak to
the issue of votes by email, but it doesn't forbid it either. It may be
something we need to try until we can safely meet in person again.

The LAN Constitution doesn't give the Chairperson the power to unilaterally
cancel a previously scheduled meeting, so all I can do is recommend to you
that our March 18th meeting be cancelled and we will find a way to conduct
important business until it is prudent for us to reconvene in person.

If you have any thoughts or concerns, please feel free to share them with
me.

I look forward to seeing you all again.

Travis Harrod
LAN Chairperson
