[Electronic-lan] Question re: 83% savings with Westar wind energy

The actual rate comparison refers to a Westar "fuel factor cost", which
is only a portion of the 10.5 cents per kWh total rate that Lawrence pays.

The fuel factor cost for Lawrence is now 2.3 cents per kWh.  If they
bought the wind power, it would drop to a discount rate of 1.8 cents per
kWh, a 22% reduction.

The confusion arose from Dave Wagner's talking about only the 10.5 cents
per kWh at the City Commission meeting, and not the fuel factor cost of
2.3 cents per kWh.  Someone in this forum assumed the discount would
drop from 10.5 cents per kWh to 1.8 cents per kWh, which would be 83%,
but mistaken.

Still, a 22% discount isn't to be sneezed at, especially if Lawrence
takes our Climate Protection Plan seriously.
