Hello LAN,



Thank you for your time at the most recent LAN meeting, allowing me to
speak about the Senior Resource Center for Douglas County, our current
status, and our future plans/ goals!



As I mentioned in my presentation, my request of the individual
neighborhood associations is to keep us in mind as a resource when you
notice a neighbor might be struggling with challenges as they are aging in
place. Sometimes this can be identified when the neighbor *stops* being
seen…. They aren’t leaving their house like they used to, they are
struggling to keep up with yard work, you notice they aren’t engaging with
the neighborhood the way they used to.



Although SRC cannot directly solve all the challenges that come with aging,
we vow to do our best to help people find the resources they need in order
to enjoy the best possible quality of life as they get older!  Sometimes
this does mean the direct services we offer, like transportation or support
groups. Sometimes it also means connecting a person with other community
services who can help, but maybe weren’t known before.

which has now been under a long-time renovation, should be ready for us to
move back downtown this late-summer or early-fall.  At that time, we will
also be able to offer a more robust schedule of programs and activities
which we hope will add quality of life and enhance health for all our
Douglas County seniors!
