Thanks for following up on this subject after the meeting, Courtney, and
thanks for the link.
Here is a short, concise summary of a study of the effectiveness of
Neighborhood Watch programs. Results are mixed and not very encouraging
when it comes to crime reduction. There may be other benefits, however,
such as community building that results from formalizing shared
responsibility and a sense of mutuality. I didn't find a study about that,
but didn't look very hard either.
